Lily sat in the fifth year Gryffindor girls' dorm. It was quiet and, if she hadn't known better, she would have guessed someone had come into the dorm and stolen all of the noise. The silence was so dense that nothing penetrated it. Maybe someone cast a spell? she thought before shaking her head at such a notion.
Finally, when she could stand the eeriness of the silence no longer she stood and walked from the room quickly. Moving swiftly through the dead common room she groaned lightly. No one, she thought. Not a soul. As she exited the dungeon. She began to think. Memories flooding through her head as if they were all trying to fit through a mouse's hole in the wall. But they were elephants.
Lily remembered the first time she had walked through the castle in her first year. She had an internal fight. How was she make up with her sister. Petunia was one of the most important things to Lily. Next to her friends and parents. And when she got her Hogwarts letter a rift grew between the two girls. The rift grew until Lily only returned home on the summer holidays. now five years later, she found that the rift hadn't closed, it hadn't even shrunk. She knew she was never going to make up with Petunia. And it nearly killed her inside.
When Lily stopped and looked around she found herself on the fourth floor. Moving over to the window she sat on the sill and watched the lake. She could see the Headmaster speaking with someone, or rather, something. It was too small to make out, but she could tell that it was a disconcerting conversation.
